DOVER, Idaho – Residents of the tiny town of Dover in North Idaho could be without a U.S. Post Office on Wednesday.
Officials say they are closing the office after the owner of the 96-year-old building upped the rent from $150 to $350 per month.
Timothy Youngblood, operations manager for the post office, says the U.S. Post Office cannot afford to buy or build a new post office because of the economy.
A real estate agent who represents the owners of the building says the owners are willing to extend the lease for four months so a new location can be found for the post office."
