Payphone at the corner of First & Main in Keosauqua, Iowa. Keosauqua is located in southeastern Iowa and is the Van Buren county seat. Among our more notable claims to fame are the oldest courthouse in the state and the site of the first legal hanging (capital punishment is simply a part of that history in Iowa these days). About fifty miles down the Des Moines river from here is Keokuk, Iowa, and the confluence of the Des Moines and Mississippi rivers. As you can see, the payphone is right next to a pharmacy and just down the street from local restaraunts Riverbend Steakhouse and the Lousiana Purchase (on First St.). Within two blocks of this there are three taverns. The proximity of the drug store, the restaraunts, and the bars should make the chances of someone answering the phone better than average on any given day. The number is (319) 293-9983.
